Mammootty Pokkiri Raja postponed!

The deadly combo Mammootty- Prithviraj’s eagerly awaited Vysakh directed Pokkiri Raja, which was to release on April 30 has been postponed to May 6.

It has upset the fans of Mammootty and Prithviraj who were waiting to watch their heroes scorch the screen.

The film which is being censored today would have been actually ready for release this Friday. But the stand off between distributors and theatres in Kerala has resulted in the postponement.

All the theatres in Kerala and outside were also looking forward to the biggie which carries good pre-release reports. Let us hope the stalemate in the trade would end soon, as this is peak summer season, the best time to release a film.

Pokkiri Raja in 124 centres

Malayalam megastar Mammootty and youth icon Prithviraj starrer Pokkiri Raja, written and directed by debutant Vysakh (a former assistant of Joshi and Johnny Antony) will grace theatres on April 30. According to sources, the makers are releasing the flick in 84 centres within the state and in 31 centres outside Kerala.

Featuring Mammootty and Prithviraj as brothers, the movie marks the Malayalam debut of popular South Indian actress Shriya Saran. Music is by Jassie Gift and Kaithapram. The film, produced by Mulagupadam Films, has Nedumudi Venu, Thilakan, Siddique, Saikumar, Innocent, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu and Salimkumar also in the cast.

Lingusamy to launch Mammootty’s son!

Tamil hit director Lingusamy is all set to launch Malayalam megastar Mammootty’s son Dulkar Salman as hero in a Malayalam film! The film will be a musical entertainer, with Mammootty himself doing a cameo in the film.

Says Lingusamy: “ Mammootty is like my big brother. We go back a long way. My first film as director Anandam in Tamil had Mammooka in a pivotal role and the film was a super hit. So when he asked me to launch his son Dulkar Salman in Malayalam, I readily agreed.”

The other details of this proposed film and when it will be launched will be known only after Mammootty comes back from his US holiday, sometime in May. Meanwhile Lingusamy himself has started work on his new Tamil film with Silambarasan, which will start in June.

Mammootty in Kannada

Malayalam superstar Mammootty is set to make his debut in Sandalwood through Shikari. Big budget film producer Gandugali K Manju has been successful in bringing the Malayalam actor to Kannada films.

Speculations about Mammootty's entry into Kannada films have been on in Sandalwood for the last six months. Now, they have turned true with Mammootty giving his nod for Shikari.

Manju has selected award-winning young director Abhay Simha for the project. Simha, who hails from coastal Karnataka, is known for his grip over filmmaking. The selection of the remaining star cast is on. Manju wants Shikari to be a closely guarded secret as it is supposed to be a surprise package.

Earlier, another Malayalam superstar Mohanlal had acted in Love, the debut film of Aditya Singh, son of renowned film-maker Rajendra Singh (Babu). But the movie was a disaster. Since then, Mohanlal has not been seen in any Kannada movie.
